Introduction

TAC is a sporting club which provides participation in all aspects of Track & Field to athlete's all over the Tablelands. We hold our club days at the Tolga Sports Ground on a Sunday morning and our members are at the grounds from 8am setting up the equipment so the day can start on time. Any extra help is always appreciated.. Our sheds are located behind the tennis courts.

TAC also provides coaching support to local schools as well as the use of our grounds and equipment for School Sport Carnivals. Our very qualified and experienced coaches & officials spend their time throughout the year at various different competitions and club meets.

Club Competitons

Club days are usualy held on Sundays between 8.30am - 11am.  On some weekends throughout the year the club may compete at Carnivals or Competitions hosted by another club.

Athletes generally compete in their own age groups under the direction of an Age Marshall who will lead the group and record results with the help of other parents. Athletes must respect and abide by the Age Marshall’s directions at all times, as they are only volunteers who are generously giving their time. Parents are asked to stay for club day. If we don't have volunteers to help out then we can not run the events. There are many roles that need fulfilling, whether it is recording, timing, measuring or spiking, every little bit helps to make the day run smoothly & quickly.

Events change each week and are a mixture of track, jumps & throws.  Athletes are encouraged to try every event. Remember, it's not about winning but having a go! At field events (shot put, Long Jump etc) each athlete will be given three trials, except High Jump where the athlete will continue to jump until they record three consecutive failures. All athletes will reocrd a result and earn a point if they do the event. After each club day, the athlete will be given a results ticket, which will record the best of their trials at the field and track events.

Annual Carnivals

There are many carnivals throughout the year that athlete's can attend, from Cairns right down to Mackay.

TAC hosts their own one each year which is the famous Tolga Pentathlon which is held on the Sunday 11th of August. This is a one day, 5 event carnival and despite the usual anticipation of rain, it sees over 170 athlete's come from all over FNQ and even as far as Brisbane.
